W!LD RICE celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Michael Chiang and Dick Lee’s Beauty World – Singapore’s all-time favourite musical - with a sparkling new production at the Esplanade Theatre.

A mysterious jade pendant brings an innocent small town girl to Beauty World, a fabulous if somewhat seamy 1960s Singapore nightclub, where she hopes to find her long-lost father.

In her adventures, she meets up with her dotty pen-pal, gets a extreme make-over for her stage debut, crosses the path of the cabaret’s vindictive star, and learns some heartbreaking truths about love and life.

Ivan Heng, one of Singapore’s foremost theatre directors, leads a creative dream team of musical theatre professionals and a company of 40 dazzling performers to give this well-loved classic a new lease of life.

With an exuberant retelling of a hopelessly romantic story, a truly memorable score that features six new songs, heart-stopping dance routines and spectacular new costumes and sets, the all-new Beauty World promises to put a spring in your step and a song in your heart right through the New Year!
