These include two productions that shine a spotlight on young artists and performers, as well as a brand-new piece of documentary theatre that celebrates the voices and stories of Singapore’s transgender community.
- Young & Wild’s People (30 May to 2 June 2024) – The ninth cohort of Young & Wild, Wild Rice’s award-winning youth ensemble, takes centre stage in this electrifying new production of Joel Tan’s play, which explores how an earthquake in Japan reverberates in the lives of a host of otherwise unconnected people.
- Singapore Youth Theatre’s REGARDLESS OF (11 to 15 June 2024) – In this heartfelt, original and thought-provoking new play, Singapore Youth Theatre explores the timeless themes of identity and belonging. This series of moving, funny vignettes is devised and performed by the fourth cohort of Wild Rice’s theatre-making programme for young people from the ages of 13 to 17.
- trans:mission (12 to 16 June 2024) – In conjunction with Pride Month, Wild Rice proudly presents trans:mission, the first work in Singapore that is fully devised, written and performed by trans people. This brave and candid piece of documentary theatre celebrates the stories of trans folk – told in their own words, and with their own voices.
