AUDITION NOTICE: THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ – FIRST STAGE KIDS

Wild Rice’s annual holiday musical/pantomime returns this holiday season with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a brand-new show inspired by L. Frank Baum’s classic novel. Directed by Ivan Heng, this world-premiere production will feature an original book and lyrics by Alfian Sa’at, new music by Elaine Chan and a fabulous cast including our First Stage Kids. We are looking for 20 children from the ages of 6 to 12 who can sing and dance. Interested candidates must be able to commit to the following dates:

WORKSHOP:
2 – 6 September 2024 (10am – 6pm)

REHEARSALS:
4 October (7 – 10pm), 5 October (10am – 6pm)
11 October (7 – 10pm), 12 October (10am – 6pm)
18 October (7 – 10pm), 19 October (10am – 6pm)
25 October (7 – 10pm), 26 October (10am – 6pm)
28 October – 1 November (2pm – 10pm)
2 November (10am – 6pm)
4 – 9 November (2pm – 10pm)

CAST ALBUM RECORDING:
21 – 23 October 2024 (2pm – 10pm)

TECH AND DRESS REHEARSALS:
11 – 14 November 2024 (11am – 11pm)

SHOW:
14 November – 21 December 2024
Tuesday – Friday, 7:30pm
Saturday, 2:30pm & 7:30pm
Sunday, 2:30pm (TBC: 7:30PM)
ALL Mondays: No Shows

Please note that this show schedule is accurate as of 9 February 2024. All dates are subject to change.

Auditions will be held on 17^th & 31^st March, Sunday (10am – 6pm).

All interested candidates should first submit:

1. The following videos:

• A one-minute video of you singing a song of your choice accompanied by a minus-one or simple piano backing track. Please do not submit acappella videos.
• A one-minute video of you dancing to a hip-hop song.

2. Performance résumé (in PDF format)
3. Headshot (taken within the last 6 months)
4. Full body shot (taken within the last 6 months)

Do state your height in metres for our reference.

Please e-mail your submission to production@wildrice.com.sg. Your email should contain a Google Drive link to a folder containing all the required elements of your submission. Your email subject should read ‘Wizard of Oz First Stage Audition (Your Name)’. 

Applications must be submitted by 4 March 2024 (Monday), 6pm. Any applications submitted past the deadline will not be accepted. Please do not call to apply.

Candidates will then be shortlisted for in-person auditions on 17 or 31 March, Sunday (10am – 6pm)

If your child has been shortlisted for an in-person audition, Wild Rice will contact you by 8 March 2024 (Friday).
