Since its inception in 2003, Wild Rice’s annual musical/pantomime has become a much sought-after training platform for young rising stars. This holiday season, we will be staging our brand-new adaptation of Pinocchio, directed by Pam Oei, with a book by Thomas Lim, lyrics by Joel Tan and music by Julian Wong. And, for the first time in three very long years, we are so pleased to be able to have children join us on stage again!
Wild Rice’s renowned First Stage programme is the only one of its kind in Singapore. It provides promising young talents with the perfect opportunity to learn, grow and gain invaluable performing experience in a professional creative environment. Successful auditionees will get to work with some of the best theatre-makers in the country to help develop a new homegrown theatre production from scratch – a unique experience that is quite unlike performing in existing shows. Over the past two decades, more than 150 children have benefited from our First Stage programme, performing alongside Singapore’s finest performers for an audience of over 200,000 people.
We are looking for children from the ages of 5 to 12 who can sing and dance. Interested candidates must be able to commit to the following dates:
WORKSHOP:

7 October (7 – 10pm), 8 & 9 October (10am – 6pm)
14 October (7 – 10pm), 15 & 16 October (10am – 6pm)

28 October (7 – 10pm), 29 & 30 October (10am – 6pm)
2 – 4 November (4 – 10pm), 5 & 6 November (10am – 6pm)
CAST ALBUM RECORDING:

TECH AND DRESS REHEARSALS:

All interested candidates should first submit:
1. The following videos:
- A one-minute video of you singing a song of your choice accompanied by a minus-one or simple piano backing track. Please do not submit acappella videos.
- A one-minute video of you dancing to a hip-hop song.
2. Performance résumé (in PDF format)
3. Headshot (taken within the last 6 months)
4. Full body shot (taken within the last 6 months)
Do state your height in metres for our reference.
Please e-mail your submission to production@wildrice.com.sg. Your email should contain a Google Drive link to a folder containing all the necessary materials. Your email subject should read ‘Pinocchio First Stage Audition (Your Name)’. Applications must be submitted by 14 June 2022 (Tuesday), 6pm. Please do not call to apply.
Candidates will then be shortlisted for in-person auditions on 26 June, Sunday (11am – 7pm).
If your child has been shortlisted for an in-person audition, Wild Rice will contact you by 20 June 2022 (Monday).
