Casting details
We are casting for performers comfortable with Singlish to play the following roles:

Jaeclyn

A young professional in her early 30s. She works very hard and makes a lot of money, but longs for a boyfriend and wishes to travel more. She is domineering, competitive and used to making demands of people. She believes she deserves her success, and that she has achieved all that she has by understanding the system and playing by its rules.

Shireen

A civil servant in her early 30s. She believes she has a modern, cosmopolitan outlook, but has also been going steady with the same boyfriend since secondary school, with no plans to get married. She sometimes feels like she hasn’t really lived her life yet. She comes across as a nice person, but is often too self-deprecating.

Kim

A young man in his early to mid-20s. He has lived a storied life – dropping out of school, joining a gang, working in seven different kitchens and, now, readjusting to life after prison. He has a wife and children, and works hard because he is constantly worried about money. He is blunt and can be abrasive, but actually has a soft heart.

Zat

A Malay man in his 30s to 40s who used to be with the SAF military police. He now feels an obligation to, and finds meaning in, managing the café and keeping it running smoothly. He struggles to balance being in charge of his employees and being friends with them. He is responsible, protective and empathetic.

Eleanor

A youth in her early 20s. She is a university student working part-time at the café for extra pocket money. She hates studying Business, and working at the café allows her to feel like she is doing something with her life. She is rebellious and somewhat spoiled.

If you are able to commit to the above schedule, please email production@wildrice.com.sg with your CV (in pdf format), a recent headshot and the subject header “Café (your name)” by Monday, 24 August 2020 11:59pm.

Please note that shortlisted applicants will be contacted on 26 August 2020.

Thank you.
