Under the leadership of award-winning actor and theatre-maker Edith Podesta, this year-long comprehensive acting programme aims to prepare promising young talents for careers in the creative industry.
Working alongside local and international career professionals, Young & Wild offers participants the unique opportunity to see how a professional theatre company creates work, connects with an audience, and engages with the community.
Over 12 months, the programme will explore the essential techniques required for acting on stage and screen. Other modules include a foundation in European Naturalism, classes in Laban and Physical Characterisation, Contemporary Play Production, and workshops on professional development and career management.
The programme will culminate with the participants presenting their own showcase as part of Wild Rice’s season.

Course Duration: 12 months (beginning from February 2021)
Training Sessions: 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 6pm every Sunday
(Depending on programme requirements, the frequency of classes might increase in certain months and/or in the run-up to productions. Participants might have to attend extra workshops in the event that master classes are arranged that will be conducted by other instructors.)

Get To Know Our Young & Wild Programme Director!
Edith Podesta is an award winning theatre-maker, actor and performance lecturer. She studied acting and movement studies at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), and holds a Master of Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts. In 2014, she was named Best Actress at the 14th Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards for her role in Cake Theatrical Productions’ Illogic, directed by Natalie Hennedige; and her production of BITCH: The Origin of the Female Species won Production of the Year and Best Original Script in 2017. Edith has lectured at LASALLE College of the Arts, School of the Arts, Theatre Training and Research Programme, NIDA, Conservatorium of Music and University of Technology Sydney.
Auditions will be held on the following days:
14 November, Saturday: 9am – 12:30pm
19 November, Thursday: 7pm – 10pm
21 November, Saturday: 9am – 12:30pm
26 November, Thursday: 7pm – 10pm
Applicants must be able to commit to a 12-month programme encompassing four training terms.
Requirements For Those Interested In Auditioning
Prepare and memorise two short monologues (1- 2 minutes in length)
1. One monologue from a Shakespeare play; and
2. A contrasting monologue from a contemporary play of your choosing.
Please select your monologues from published plays only.
The audition will also include a short interview.
