Wild Rice @ Funan

Welcome to our home

After 20 years of championing home-grown theatre, we have finally found our own home in Funan — a performing arts complex located in the heart of Singapore’s civic and cultural district.

Our main space, The Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre, is a 358-seat venue featuring Singapore’s only thrust stage, inspired by the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Swan Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon. A marvel of engineering and architecture, the theatre is at once intimate and epic, with every element thoughtfully designed to enhance the interactive experience of a live theatre performance – that electric moment of connection between audience and performer.

Envisioned by Founding Artistic Director Ivan Heng and Executive Director Tony Trickett, Wild Rice @ Funan is designed by an award-winning team that includes Singaporean architecture studio Zarch Collaboratives and international theatre design consultancy Charcoalblue and acoustic design firm Radian Acoustics.

By bringing you the best that Singapore theatre can offer, with an emphasis on telling stories of and about Singapore, this iconic destination theatre lays the foundation for nurturing and developing artists and audiences alike. In these ways and more, Wild Rice @ Funan will build a legacy of artistic excellence for generations to come.
