The 2008 Rice Ball transported us back to the disco daze of the delirious ‘70s. The Ritz-Carlton’s Grand Ballroom was transformed into Singapore’s swankiest discotheque where, for one night only, we could be a Dancing Queen or King of the dance floor, do the Hustle and blame it on the Boogie. But not before the stars of Singapore theatre entertained us with another W!LD concert paying homage to the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Earth Wind and Fire, ABBA and The Village People. As a fitting tribute to the fun and fabulous era which inspired Saturday Night Fever, the evening’s dress code was “Disco Divas, Funky Fellas”.
