Uncensored Conversations

Uncensored Conversations is an archive of interviews with various artists on their experiences with censorship and regulation. This includes their attempts to circumvent, resist, appropriate and subvert various forms of censorship.

Censorship wants to be invisible. Its goal is to leave its mark without leaving a mark. Through these interviews, we hope to illuminate its operations and its impact on performance and art practices. By inviting artists to reflect on some of their works—whether unrealised, compromised or brutalised—we hope to encourage more discourse on the violence of censorship in a collective project of un-silencing.
