Dream A Little Dream

Dear friends and W!LD RICE Angels,

Where does all that time go? It’s hard to believe, but the final showcase for the graduating cohort of young & W!LD is now upon us. A Midsummer Night’s Dream, their bold re-imagining of William Shakespeare’s classic comedy, is the culmination of 18 months of hard work and training in the craft of theatre-making. It has truly been a privilege to watch these young talents grow and mature as artists, and we urge you to join us in the theatre for this rousing send-off in the inimitable spirit of being young & W!LD!

In other news, this entire year has been quite the W!LD ride for us, as we race from production to production in our exhilarating imagiNATION season. Over the past few weeks, we’ve opened – and closed – our five-star HOTEL, an epic theatrical odyssey created in collaboration with the Singapore International Festival of Arts; and we proudly flew the Singapore flag at the Brisbane Festival with the Australian premiere of our award-winning production of The Importance of Being Earnest.

In this issue, meet Nur Hamidah and Jey Lim – two bright sparks from young & W!LD to keep an eye on in future. Find out from Geraldine Ho, our marketing executive, what working in a company like W!LD RICE involves, and catch up on what we’ve been doing in the past month. Pssst.... a little bird tells me that our HOTEL might be re-opening for business in July 2016!

Enjoy W!LD TIMES, and see you at the theatre!

My best,

Going Off-Script

As the members of young & W!LD prepare to open their final showcase, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, she chats with us about the lessons she’s learned as both playwright and performer in the past 18 months. Getting Physical

A drama educator and physical theatre enthusiast, Jey nevertheless had to open himself up to new lessons and ideas as part of young & W!LD. He tells us about being broken and inspired by Shakespeare in equal measure, and shares with us some of the insights he’ll be taking with him from his time in young & W!LD.
