The W!LD West awaits!

Dear friends and W!LD RICE Angels,

Last week, the curtain finally went up on Monkey Goes West, the first homegrown musical to be staged in the newly-refurbished Victoria Theatre. The production opened to wonderful reviews from the likes of The Straits Times and Today, and audience members are raving about it! The show is almost completely sold out, so please hurry and buy tickets if you haven’t done so already.

In this issue, Sebastian Tan shares his insights about directing Monkey Goes West, and Chua Enlai muses about playing the show's unforgettable Iron Lady. We also talk to Happy and Bee Rogers, two sisters who were inspired by a pantomime to choose acting as a career. Being young & W!LD, our youth division extended their skills through a workshop with cutting-edge physical theatre performer and educator Mark Hill.

On a personal note, Tony and I were thrilled to be invited by HM Queen Elizabeth to a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace, held in honour of President and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam, and in advance of Singapore's 50th anniversary. It was a great distinction for W!LD RICE, and we’d like to take this opportunity to share some photos of this occasion with you.

Enjoy the weekend. We look forward to welcoming you to the theatre!
