Heading into the W!LD West!

Dear friends and W!LD RICE Angels,

Rehearsals are in full swing for Monkey Goes West, and it’s a real treat to wander through our rehearsal space as it hums with activity, music and laughter. We can hardly wait to bring you Alfian Sa’at’s sparkling twist on Chinese fantasy epic Journey To The West, directed by pantomime veteran Sebastian Tan (in his
W!LD RICE directing debut!) and featuring Elaine Chan's thrilling and eclectic score.

In this issue, we continue our journey into the W!LD West. Sugie Phua gives us an insight into his deep personal connection with the character of Monkey. Kimberly Chan, who made her professional debut as a FIRST STAGE KID in Cinderel-lah!, tells us about returning to the pantomime for the role of Red Boy (Hong Hai Er). We catch up with hair designer extraordinaire Ashley Lim, who is hard at work crafting some exquisite headpieces for Monkey Goes West. Find out what acclaimed West End star Ria Jones taught in her master class, and check in with young & W!LD’s resident triple threat, Timothy Wan. Last, but certainly not least, read all about our annual fundraising gala, the NIGHT SAFARI.

We look forward to welcoming you to the newly refurbished Victoria Theatre. Till then, enjoy W!LD TIMES!

My best,

Hot Off The Press!
