Being
Boeing Artistic Director's Message
The challenge before Glen and the company was to revisit, ‘contemporise’,
and relocate this classic comedy to the present day, whilst keeping
faithful to the text and the spirit of the play. We believe this
makes for a more immediate and shared experience, and that you will
laugh harder.
Some of the finest talents in Singapore theatre have been brought
together to meet the challenges of farcical tradition. On-board are
a creative design team that includes Lai Chan, who has draped and
dressed all W!LD RICE shows since he succumbed to Emily’s demands
and Suven Chan who illuminated the Singaporean Premiere of Animal
Farm.
Ladies
and Gentlemen, please join us in applauding Asia Pacific Breweries
Foundation (APBF) for coming on-board as W!LD RICE’s very
first corporate sponsor. In APB Foundation, we have a visionary arts
champion that understands the value of theatre in a civilised,
compassionate society. Their commitment helps fledging companies
like ours to plan BETTER for the long term, both financially and
artistically. It will enable us to dream bigger, take risks, build
audiences, employ the best and continue to produce quality shows
that you, our audience, have come to expect. We look forward to a
long and fruitful relationship with the Foundation.
We would ALSO like to take this opportunity to thank the Lee
Foundation who have supported our growth, and the National Arts
Council and the Arts Fund who have been there from the beginning.
Our thanks also go to Cream, Cosmoprof International, David Chong &
Co and Chijmes. And not forgetting our “guardian angel Special Kay,
who works her magic day to day”! A special thank you also goes to
Philip Morris Pte Ltd for helping to make this production possible.
And last but not least, thank you Ladies and Gentlemen for coming.
Your overwhelming support inspires staying. Not quitting.
